Old City - Jaffa Gate ticket office

A walk along the top of Suleiman's sixteenth-century city walls, on two routes from Jaffa Gate: south past the Tower of David to Dung Gate, or north above the Christian and Muslim Quarters to Lions' Gate. Unusually for a ticketed Jerusalem site, it is open on Shabbat.

Adult ₪25 Child ₪15

₪25 adult; ₪15 child 5-18, senior, student or soldier; under-5s free. One ticket covers both routes and is valid all day during opening hours. Groups of 20+: ₪18 adult / ₪13 reduced. A free audio guide is available through the 'Audio tours in Jerusalem' app, and an augmented-reality experience is included at no extra charge.

₪15 for children 5-18, students, soldiers and seniors; free under 5. Group rate from 20 people. Refunds or changes only by email to tourism@pami.co.il at least 3 working days ahead.

Parking

Karta lot at the entrance to the Old City by Jaffa Gate (paid) is the closest; Mamilla underground on Alrov Avenue gives a free first hour; Safra Square is a short walk down. Park-and-ride at Mount Herzl, Ammunition Hill or Pisgat Ze'ev and take the light rail if you want to avoid the Jaffa Gate crush entirely.

Getting there

Light rail to City Hall, then 10-15 minutes on foot to Jaffa Gate. Circular bus 38 and buses 1 and 3 serve the Old City.

Insider tips

One ticket covers both routes for the whole day, so you can split them around lunch.
On Fridays only the southern ramparts and the Jaffa Gate-New Gate stretch are open.

Exits on the northern route are at Jaffa, New, Damascus, Herod's and Lions' Gates (Fridays: Jaffa and New only).
One of the very few ticketed Old City sites open on Shabbat.
