Old City area - outside Dung Gate (Silwan ridge)

The national park on the ridge just outside Dung Gate where ancient Jerusalem began, with Warren's Shaft, the dry Canaanite tunnel and the water-filled Hezekiah's (Siloam) Tunnel running down to the Pool of Siloam. Sold as self-guided entry, with guided tours bookable separately.

Self-guided park entry: adult ₪31, child 5-18 ₪16, student ₪26, soldier/senior ₪16. Guided tours (Biblical City of David, Pilgrimage Road, Western Wall Cornerstone) are separate products bought on top. The 3D film or Spring presentation is ₪15 extra, sold at the visitor centre only to ticket holders. Optional shuttle back up from the Pool of Siloam ₪7.

Discounts

Students ₪26; soldiers and seniors ₪16; Israel Nature and Parks Authority (Matmon) members enter free. Group rates for parties of 30+ through the group desk.

Parking

There is no easy parking at the site. The Karta and Mamilla paid lots by Jaffa Gate are about a 20-minute walk (the park itself suggests taking a taxi from there); the small Mount Zion / David's Tomb lot is about 9 minutes away but has very few spaces. Coming by bus or light rail, or by taxi through Jaffa Gate, is usually less painful than driving.

Getting there

Buses 1, 3, 38 and 2 serve the Western Wall; from the Kotel it is a 2-minute walk out through Dung Gate. Taxis may drive in through Jaffa Gate at any hour.

Insider tips

Book a time slot online; last entry to the water tunnel is 1.5 hours before closing.
Hezekiah's Tunnel holds water up to ~70 cm - wear shoes that can get wet and pack a change of clothes.
Prefer to stay dry? Take the Canaanite tunnel instead; same site, no wading.
A ₪7 shuttle saves the steep climb back up from the Pool of Siloam.
Closes 14:00 Friday and all Shabbat, so Friday visits must start early.
