The classic panorama of Jerusalem: an open terrace above the Old City looking across to the Temple Mount, the Kidron Valley and the Armon HaNatziv ridge, set above the Mount of Olives Jewish cemetery, reputedly the oldest burial ground still in use anywhere.

No entry fee for the viewpoint or the cemetery paths. Guided cemetery tours are run for organised groups only and must be coordinated with the reservation centre at least eight working days ahead.

Parking

Organised parking is signposted by the Mount of Olives Information Center at Derech Yericho 5 (navigate to 'Mount of Olives Information Center'). Roadside parking along the ridge by the Seven Arches Hotel is limited and tight.

Getting there

Bus 84 from Ammunition Hill, beside the light rail, runs to Maaleh Har HaZeitim by the Seven Arches Hotel. Lines 83, 83A and 51 serve the Information Center; lines 1 and 3 towards the Kotel stop at Derech Yericho / Ha'Ofel.

Come early morning: the sun is behind you and the Old City lights up.
Bus 84 from Ammunition Hill, next to the light rail, drops you by the Seven Arches Hotel.
The walk down through the cemetery towards Gethsemane is steep - proper shoes, and not after rain.
The Information Center is currently closed to individuals, so there is no visitor desk on the ridge.
Free and open all week including Shabbat, when most ticketed sites are shut.
