The family beach of north Tel Aviv, immediately south of the Port, refurbished into a modern beach while keeping the look that made the 1972 film it is named after. Hot showers, a baby shower, accessible changing rooms and a sheltered bay make it the easiest Tel Aviv beach with small children, and it holds the Blue Flag standard.

Entry is free. Hot showers, a dedicated baby shower, accessible changing rooms, toilets, shade shelters and drinking fountains cost nothing. Deckchairs and sunbeds are rented by the beach concession at prices set on the beach. Parking is paid.

Parking

Paid parking; the municipality publishes a car-park map. The Tel Aviv Port lots next door are the obvious option and fill up on Fridays and Saturdays.

Getting there

About an hour's drive from Jerusalem on Route 1. By train, Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon to Tel Aviv Savidor Merkaz in roughly 35 minutes, then a bus or taxi to Tel Aviv Port.

Insider tips

There is a dedicated baby shower here — rare on Israeli beaches.
Hot showers, not just cold rinse posts, which changes the end of the day with children.
Dogs are not allowed on Metzitzim; the dog beach is further north.
Tel Aviv Port's cafés and playground are a two-minute walk for when the sand runs out.
Never swim outside lifeguard hours — the municipality prohibits it outright.
