The free public beach in the middle of the Ein Bokek hotel strip at the southern Dead Sea, run by Tamar Regional Council. Lawns, shaded areas, sand, play and fitness equipment, free umbrellas and chairs, showers, changing rooms and toilets, with a promenade, mall and cafés a few steps away.

Entry is free. Tamar Regional Council provides umbrellas and chairs at no charge, plus showers, changing rooms and public toilets. The promenade has cold drinking fountains, ping-pong tables and solar phone-charging points, all free. Parking is the only thing you pay for. Not a Nature and Parks Authority site.

Parking

Regulated blue-and-white parking paid through the Pango app; it fills up at weekends and on holidays. The upper Palms car park (Waze: opposite the Taj Mahal restaurant) and the upper Conference car park next to it are a short walk away and usually have space.

Getting there

About 1 hour 45 minutes' drive from Jerusalem via Route 1 and Route 90. Egged lines 486, 444 and 421 from Jerusalem Central Bus Station run down to Ein Bokek, roughly hourly Sunday to Thursday and until early afternoon on Friday; nothing runs on Shabbat.

How long to allowFull day trip AgesAll ages. This is the easiest Dead Sea beach for families — grass, shade and a short flat walk to the water. Dead Sea rules still apply: constant supervision, no diving or splashing, don't shave beforehand, and rinse eyes at once with fresh water. Insider tips

Entry, umbrellas and chairs are free — you only pay for parking.
The blue-and-white lot fills early on Fridays and holidays; head straight for the upper Palms car park.
Lifeguards start at 07:00, which is the only sane hour to swim in summer.
Wheelchairs can be borrowed free from the lifeguard's hut.
Water shoes: the seabed here is hard salt crystal.
