The closest organised Dead Sea beach to Jerusalem, about 25 minutes away at the northern end of the sea, with mud on the shore, hot showers, changing rooms and a shuttle that runs guests down to the waterline. The ticket is all-inclusive, which makes it simpler than the beaches further south.

The ticket is all-inclusive: parking, a deckchair and parasol subject to availability, and unlimited shore shuttles. Bought separately a deckchair is ₪8, a parasol ₪8 and a one-way shuttle ₪10. Lockers and towels are provided; hot showers and changing rooms are on site. This is a private beach, so the Nature and Parks Authority annual pass does not cover it.

Discounts

₪35 for children aged 3–12, students, senior citizens, visitors with a disability and soldiers. Free under age 3.

Parking

Included in the entrance ticket. Bought on its own the first 15 minutes are free, then ₪0.70 per minute up to 30 minutes and ₪0.50 per minute thereafter.

Getting there

About 25 minutes' drive from Jerusalem on Route 1 to Almog Junction. Egged lines 486, 444 and 421 from Jerusalem Central Bus Station stop at Almog Junction for Kalia — but nothing runs from Friday afternoon until Saturday night, so Shabbat means a car.

Insider tips

Bring water shoes — the shoreline is sharp salt crystal, not sand.
Don't shave or wax the day before; the salt finds every nick.
The all-inclusive ticket already covers parking, chair, parasol and the shuttle — don't pay twice.
No bus on Shabbat: lines 486, 444 and 421 stop from Friday afternoon to Saturday night.
Rinse under the fresh-water showers before you dress — dried salt itches for hours.
