Qué da por supuesto: A weekday with young children, mostly in Malha and the west of the city. A car makes it easier; buses reach every stop.

Arrive at opening: the animals are active and the car park is not yet full. Half a day if you let it be.

Gottesman Family Israel Aquarium
Next door to the zoo, indoors and air-conditioned — the right place to be at midday. Look for a combined ticket.

Gazelle Valley Park
Free, buggy-friendly, and a real herd of gazelles in the middle of the city. Late afternoon is when they come out.

Food, space and no admission at the end of the day.
