Ein Kerem
A stone village on Jerusalem's western edge, traditionally the birthplace of John the Baptist, with Mary's Spring, several churches and monasteries, artists' studios and cafes along winding lanes, about 20 minutes from the city centre.

No charge to walk the village. Individual churches, the Chagall Windows at the Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital synagogue and any guided tour are ticketed separately.
Aparcamiento
Paid lot on HaMaayan Street, plus limited free street parking that fills up at weekends. The lanes are narrow and one-way in places - arrive early or come by bus.

Bus 28 runs to Ein Kerem; pick it up from the Mount Herzl light rail station. Taxis are easy to get for the return.

- The wadi path below HaMaayan Street is one of the few quiet green walks inside Jerusalem.
