The citadel at Jaffa Gate, reopened in June 2023 after a decade-long renewal, with ten galleries telling Jerusalem's story through archaeology, film and interactive displays, plus the moat, the archaeological courtyard and the 360-degree view from Phasael Tower.

Adult ₪55 Child ₪35

Child rate is for ages 5–18; students ₪44. The Night Spectacular and KING DAVID sound-and-light shows are separate: adult ₪69, child (3–18) ₪59. A combined museum plus night show ticket is ₪108 adult, ₪83 child. An audio guide in seven languages is included in admission, as are the in-house guided tours.

Discounts

Israeli seniors and visitors with disabilities ₪28. Enlisted soldiers and active reservists free on presentation of documents at the entrance pavilion. Jerusalem children and teens up to 18 enter free on presentation of a teudat zehut. Guests of Jerusalem hotels get 15% off with the coupon supplied at the hotel.

Parking

There is no museum car park. The Karta lot just outside Jaffa Gate is the closest, with the Mamilla lot and downtown lots a short walk away — all paid. Driving into the Old City itself is not an option.

Light rail to City Hall, then a five-minute walk down through Mamilla to Jaffa Gate.

Insider tips

The new entrance is to the RIGHT of the Jaffa Gate courtyard as you come off Mamilla - look for three red flags.
Guided tours inside the museum are included in the ticket; register ahead or take a place on the day if there is room.
The seven-language audio guide is free with admission, so skip any paid handset offers.
Buy online before you arrive - the museum says so itself, and the pavilion queue is slow in season.
The courtyard has shade and grass; families picnic there before a night show.
