Herod's harbour city on the Mediterranean: a Roman theatre still used for concerts, the promontory palace, the hippodrome, Crusader walls and a harbour full of galleries and restaurants, with a bathing and diving beach attached. The one place that combines serious archaeology with a swim and lunch.

Covered by a Nature and Parks Authority Matmon annual subscription and by the Israel Pass. There are restaurants, galleries, a visitors' centre and an instruction centre inside the park, and a bathing and diving beach. The 'Caesarea Experience' display beside the Roman theatre has not yet opened.

חניה
Parking by the Roman theatre area, which is the accessible entrance. On holidays and Saturdays entry is on the basis of available space, so the lots fill up — the Parks Authority recommends arriving early.
איך מגיעים
About two hours' drive from Jerusalem via Route 1 and Route 6 or the coastal road. There is no direct bus from Jerusalem, so this is a car day out; dogs are allowed on a leash and muzzle except in the visitors' centre.

In summer do the ruins early and the harbour and beach after 16:00; in winter it is a fine clear-day outing but exposed when it blows. נגישותThe Roman theatre area is accessible, with an accessible toilet, the archaeological garden, a site model, the promontory palace, the hippodrome, the beach promenade leading to the harbour, the ancient city and monuments, and the visitors' centre.

- Arrive early on Shabbat and holidays: entry is on a space-available basis and the park does fill.
- Bring swimming things — the bathing and diving beach is inside the park.
- Free with a Matmon annual subscription, which changes the maths on a two-hour drive.
- Dogs are allowed on a leash and muzzle everywhere except the visitors' centre.
- The 'Caesarea Experience' display next to the Roman theatre is still not open.
