פארקים וטבעEin LavanRefaim Valley, below Ein KeremA spring in the Refaim Stream National Park on the western edge of Jerusalem, named for the white rock around it, with a built pool about 4 by 8 metres for swimming and a shallower one for wading. The walk in from the car park is short and easy.

A 260-dunam urban nature reserve in the middle of Jerusalem with a free-roaming herd of mountain gazelles, a lake, bird hides and a flat paved circuit. Entry is free and no booking is needed.

The southern lookout over Jerusalem from the Armon HaNatziv ridge, with the Old City, the Dome of the Rock, the Mount of Olives and Mount Scopus laid out in front of you. Haas is the middle of three linked promenades that run for about 2.5 km.

A 150-dunam university garden below Givat Ram laid out by world region, with a lake, a tropical greenhouse and a children's discovery trail. It is one of the few ticketed attractions in Jerusalem open on Shabbat.

A large central park stretching from the German Colony up to Talbiyeh, built in 1976 around a replica of Philadelphia's Liberty Bell. It has playgrounds, a climbable dragon sculpture, basketball courts, a roller-skating rink, the Train Theatre and Jerusalem's main skate park.

A wooded valley in the Judean hills near Nes Harim, inside the Nahal Sorek nature reserve. Its scenic trail — about 2 km, formerly the Schuster Trail — is one of the shadiest and most manageable real hikes near Jerusalem for young children; the longer loop past the Dir a-Shekh ruins is steeper and rockier.

Jerusalem's largest green space, running between Nachlaot and Rehavia and the government and museum precinct at Givat Ram. It has the city's biggest lawns, a large modern playground, sports courts, an exercise park and a bike path.

A KKL-JNF site on the slopes above Nahal Sorek where ancient hillside farming has been restored: stone terraces, fruit trees, irrigation channels and two spring tunnels, Ein Sataf and Ein Bikura. Entry and parking are free, and a new visitor centre with a bakery-café opened in 2025.

A small park below Jaffa Gate whose centrepiece is a computer-controlled fountain of 256 water jets and 1,800 light fittings that runs free sound-and-light shows several times a day. Children play in the jets between shows.

Israel's largest rose park, opposite the Knesset and below the Supreme Court, with some 15,000 rose bushes in more than 400 varieties, many of them gifts from other countries, plus lawns, a pond and a waterfall.

A memorial to John F. Kennedy on Mount Aminadav, shaped like a felled tree stump ringed by 51 columns, set in Aminadav Forest with picnic areas, hiking trails and cycling tracks. The monument is currently closed for renovation, but the forest around it stays open.
